First Ever I Love My Roland Photo Contest

IRVINE, CA – More than 100 contestants sent in their best shop photos in hopes of winning the first-ever "I Love My Roland" photo contest, Roland's 2008 international search for the most creative, outrageous and dedicated Roland enthusiasts anywhere. At press time, judging was completed and participants were eagerly awaiting the results, to be announced in late August. Twenty five finalists will be chosen, with the grand-prize winner receiving his or her choice of a FREE trip to SGIA August 15th – 18th in Atlanta, Georgia or a FREE 5-day Carnival Cruise.

To win, participants were asked to send in photos of themselves with their Roland equipment along with a short note on the topic "Why I Love My Roland." The contest was open to customers of all Roland products, with judging based on each entry's personality, creativity and sheer enthusiasm for Roland. Grant Eneix, owner of Macular Media in Houston, Texas, was selected as the contest's Grand Prize Winner through a random drawing of the top 25 finalists. Eneix's photo features Eneix and Macular Media employee Matt Kohn dressed in business attire behind their VersaCAMM VP-540 54" eco-solvent inkjet printer/cutter. By contrast, the VersaCAMM print shows a "vacationing bottom half" for the duo – complete with shorts, sandals and a sandy beach in the background.

According to Einex, since purchasing the VersaCAMM VP-540, Macular Media's clients won't leave the shop alone. "The way we see it, it's all Roland's fault," he wrote. "...'gimmie, gimmie, gimmie ...more, more, more. WE NEED A VACATION."

Also winning his choice of a cruise or trip to SGIA was Roland Choice Award Winner John McColl, owner of Sign*A*Rama Natomas in Sacramento, California. In his winning photo, McColl, his wife Rebecca, and customers from FUEL Energy Beverage Company are surrounded by a striking backdrop of advertising graphics – vehicle wraps, banners and decals all produced on the shop's SOLJET 54" eco-solvent inkjet printer/cutter. McColl's winning entry was selected by popular vote by the company's team of judges.

In addition to the cruise, the grand prize winner will be featured in an upcoming Roland DGA advertisement to appear in U.S. trade publications. Finalists will receive a plaque and recognition on the Roland DGA Web site. Hundreds of stickers, tattoos and hats were given out throughout the contest to eligible entrants, and everyone who participated will be considered for future Roland public relations opportunities.
