Implementing Green Procurement
In order for a product to be recognized as ecologically friendly, it must be manufactured with eco-friendly parts and without the use of hazardous chemical substances. For green procurement of material and components, Roland is involved in the Japan Green Procurement Survey Standardization Initiative (JGPSSI). The company's green procurement working group has conducted a variety of research and promoted the adoption of data verification tools and the development of a components database. The Green Procurement Guidelines was published in December 2006 and, with the cooperation of our customers, green procurement was begun in January 2007. In the future, we plan on expanding the number of target items as we continue to reduce the environmental burden.
